Fundraising Events

by Alex Whittaker last modified November 11, 2008 02:59 PM

A summary of all of the fundraising events that we run in a year.

The Friends run six events each year, and these are our principal means of raising funds. In addition to these there are numerous cake, toy and book fairs, mufti days etc that between them bring in a respectable amount.

Fireworks Night

fireworks poster 2008 Fireworks Night was on Friday 7th November. Special thanks to those who helped make it such a great success.

Christmas Fair

Always a popular event, with plenty of opportunities to pick up late gifts or just enjoy the seasonal good cheer.

School Disco

A chance for our children to get on down! Helpers for ticket-sales in the preceding week and on the day will be gratefully received. Please talk to Sarah Morelli in the Infant Playground.

Summer Fair

The hottest event of the school year is fast approaching. It’s a great day out for the family, with fun things to do, great food to eat and fantastic prizes to be won. Plus it’s the biggest fund-raiser of the school year, so a huge asset for our children’s education. More details here.

End of Year Bonanza

The summer term ends with a cultural dance event, followed by an afternoon sports activity for parents and capped with an evening barbecue. More details here.

Pantomine

Robin Hood gave us another fine year in the great Strand Friends Panto tradition, you can find details of it and previous pantomimes here.

Auction of Promises

Thanks to your generosity, we had some fantastic pledges for this event. The auctioneers and the band made sure the evening went with a swing and the whole night was a great success. The ‘Head for the Day’ was one of the most popular prizes and some lucky children will be ruling the school soon!

A huge, huge thanks are due to Kaulai Harwood-Scorer for organising this fantastic occasion, and to Kaulai and Clare Levi for managing the event. To Sue Harrison and Phil Tait for running the auction. To Peter Millilgan for managing our money (as always). And, of course, to all those who pledged so generously and to those who bid so enthusiastically.

It looks like we managed to raise about £5,000 for our children’s school.
