Christmas is Coming!

We are delighted to say that once again you can order your Christmas tree through Friends of Strand School, raising money for the school, and at the same time getting a superb tree for a very good price!!! All trees are top quality Nordman non-drop fir trees. We have had great feedback from you, such as “the best shaped tree I have ever had”, “it’s true, the needles hardly dropped at all” and “…charming delivery drivers”!!! This year we will have a number of trees available to buy and take away with you at the Christmas Fair on 1^st December (11am-3pm). Alternatively you can order a tree, and collect it from the Thames Road entrance to the school on the afternoon of Saturday 8^th December, or, if you live locally, you can have your tree delivered on Saturday 15^th December, for a nominal £5.

Raising funds for our school the healthy way

Freshly harvested seasonal organic fruit and vegetables

from British farms

Pick up a bag every Friday from the Junior School playground at pick-up time. (we hope to find someone to run this in the Infant School playground as well – any volunteers??)

We are offering selections of fruit and vegetables for you to collect here at school.

Each week the selection is different, chosen by farmers to represent the best seasonal produce available.

You’ll find a mixture of favourites such as apples, tomatoes and bananas along with more unusual things to try, like purple broccoli and globe artichokes.

Every bag includes a special Farmer’s Choice newsletter, with information for you and your children about the farmers who grew the produce and recipe suggestions to help you enjoy it.

There are 3 types of bags – fruit, vegetable and combi. The Veg bag & Fruit bag go well together or you could choose the combi for 1 or 2 people!

25% of the price of the bag goes straight to Friends of Strand School (40% goes to the farmer). 50 bags sold per week raises approximately £3000 a year for our school – for less than an hour’s work a week!

The Farmer’s Choice is being run in partnership with Abel & Cole, an award winning organic food company. They have set up The Farmer’s Choice as a non-profit operation with the goal of helping schools like us raise much needed funds.

To join, simply look out for us in the playground from Friday 21^st September and come and place your order. Payment is in advance, either weekly, per half-term or per term.
